Marine Park Orca Trainer Killed – Fact Checking The Story

Seaworld Death In 2010

In 2010, a trainer was killed by an orca named Tilikum. In fact, you may remember the backlash against the amusement park, as many people opposed the idea of orcas in captivity. The trainer’s name was Dawn Brancheau.

Her death became the subject of a documentary titled Blackfish. While the orca was not destroyed by SeaWorld, the animal was restricted from human contact and eventually died in 2017 from a bacterial infection.

The New Death Video Trended 

On the weekend, across social media, a horrifying video showed orca trainer Jessica Radcliffe allegedly being killed by an orca named Keiko. Facebook, YouTube and Twitter X were among the platforms where the video was shown. It looked terrible because the crew couldn’t save her.

However, did it really happen? Well, it seems that it was just fake clickbait for cash. According to The Sun US, “Sleuths at Vocal Media fact-checked the clip and found no records of the attack ever having taken place.”

Fact Checked – It’s A Lie?

Several outlets shared about the fact-checking, and some of them shared their take on the Marine Park story on YouTube. The outlets noted that the idea was “AI generated.” Actually, it did look quite real to some people.

However, when the New York Post shared their video, the outlet said:

It turns out the entire thing is fake. Outlets including Forbes and the International Business Times have identified that the videos and images are AI-generated, even employing the use of AI-generated voices to accompany the doctored footage.

Notably, the video narrator explained that the movements and physics appear unnatural to the naked eye. The excessive, almost absurd levels of blood in some clips further undermined the illusion.

More followed, and the video noted that there didn’t seem to be “an orca trainer named Jessica Radcliffe or even a Pacific Blue Marine Park.”
