General Hospital Spoilers: Laura Loses The Election!

General Hospital spoilers tease that Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) is still ahead in the polls against rival Ezra Boyle (Daniel Cosgrove) and currently seems to have a good shot of remaining the Mayor of Port Charles after the November elections.

But Boyle has Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rios) backing him, so Laura won’t have an easy time no matter. But things may soon happen that cause Laura to have to abandon the campaign trail.

Laura Collins won’t condemn Sonny Corinthos

One of the major issues that works against Laura is her friendship with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard). Even though Sonny has never been convicted of any mob related activity, his true occupation is well known in the city.

Many people accept Sonny because he does donate a lot of money into worthy causes like General Hospital. He also has done a great job of keeping illegal drugs out of Port Charles for the most part.

Laura, like many Port Charles residents, believes whoever takes Sonny’s place would be far worse.

Port Charles has had many mob wars over the years

But that doesn’t mean Sonny doesn’t have his issues. Every few years, there is a mob war in town. Sonny consistently has rivals who try to wrestle control from him. Unfortunately, that’s led to a lot of bloodshed over the years.

That’s not something that Laura can completely ignore. There’s also the face that Sonny has literally gotten away with murder many times.

Most recently, Sonny killed FBI Agent John Cates (Adam Harrington) in cold blood even though the cops were never able to prove it. So, Laura has to contend with all of these issues as she faces down Boyle.

Laura Collins may have to leave Port Charles

This is a critical time for Laura in terms of her election campaign. But she may have to take care of an important family issue in the very near future.

Laura’s mother, Leslie Webber (the late Denise Alexander) will most likely soon become ill as the show acknowledges both Leslie and her portrayer’s passing.

If Laura is forced to leave town at this critical time, it could cost her the election and Port Charles will be stuck with a new mayor in Ezra Boyle.

What do you think?

Should Laura publicly disavow Sonny? Does Sonny do more harm than good in Port Charles? Could Leslie’s passing force Laura to be absent during a key time in the campaign process. Anything can happen in Port Charles, so stay tuned to General Hospital airing weekdays on ABC.
