Trending Baby Names in 2025 – Classics & Nature

Baby names trend every year, and it’s interesting to see that some classic names are coming back, as well as those associated with nature. Unlike some years, it’s not all about celebrity names, and there is still a trend towards gender-fluid ones. Read on for more popular 2025 names.

The Classic Names 

Olivia became very popular in 2001, and it became a hot favorite in 2020. It means “Olive Tree,” and was a top choice last year. And, it’s still at the top in 2025. Early USA popularity for the name that dates back for hundreds of years seemed to be associated with songs and TV series.

You might recall that the premiere of Disney’s Frozen brought a lot of interest in the name “Elsa.” Emma also saw rapid popularity back in 2014. Is it still in the top ten? It is popular but can it hold on? After all, there’s been a shift recently. 

Another classic that is doing well this year is Romeo. Search data reveals that it’s become extremely popular. The name started rising in 1995, per Baby Center, and it climbed steadily ever since then. Last year, it hit very high and in 2025, it’s still smoking.

Nature-Associated Names 

While official databases are not yet published, search queries give folks a good idea on trending baby names. For example, interest in “nature girl names” is high. So, Jessa Seewald’s choices seem to be right on track with Fern and Ivy. Ivy’s trending  along with Hazel and Lily.

The trend also flipped slightly to “earthy girl names.” Briar, Autumn, and Luna seem to be popular. With boys, although it’s not searched as frequently as girls, Kai, Asher, Adam, and River return results quite often. So, it seems that Bear Brown from Alaskan Bush People chose well for his oldest son.

Gender Neutral

“Unisex girls names” were searched four times more frequently than “unisex boys names” in 2025. It does indicate that many people don’t want to label their girl child by gender as much as they used to. The trend started in 2022 and still continues this year.

Some popular gender-neutral name choices are Logan, the name that Sister Wives star Janelle Brown chose for her oldest boy more than two decades ago. Adam and Danielle Busby also chose well ahead of their time when they picked Riley and Parker. Actually, out of all of their girls, the OutDaughtered couple got it right with four of them: Riley, Olivia, Parker, and Hazel.

Another interesting rise in trending baby names is the fact that there’s a surge in demand for brevity and impact, with “one-syllable girl names.” In the last three months, search queries for that rose by 110 percent. Examples are Reem, Gene, Oak, Rynn, and Lad
