The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that while it’s only been a couple of weeks, fans are missing Summer Newman (Allison Lanier).

With that said, it looks like Summer is living her best life in Milan right now, so will she choose a hot new romance over her life in Genoa City?

Summer Newman’s Spicy Italian Romance

The Young and the Restless spoilers note that during the Thursday, May 15 episode, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) updated Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) on Super Girl’s work trip in Milan.

Fans may recall that Summer abruptly left GC after both Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) resigned from Marchetti to work with their respective boyfriends.

Well, it turns out the Summer has found someone to replace the ladies at Marchetti: a ‘super-hot’ new male Italian designer, who has turned Summer’s head both professionally and personally.

The two are having a blast in Italy, and it looks like the designer and Summer are in the early stages of their romances, where things feel fresh and new. With that said, will this new boyfriend offer a solid reason for Summer to stay off the canvas for a while?

Is Summer Newman Returning?

Allison Lanier shocked fans when she hopped on the social media platform, X, to announce her exit. She gave viewers mere days to digest the fact that she and Summer were leaving the show. At the time, Soap Opera Digest also reported there were no immediate plans to recast Summer.

A character heading out of town for business and staying there could make sense for most GC residents; however, fans know what a dedicated mom Summer is to Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell). She may not be the child’s biological mom, but she’s the only mother he’s ever known, and it was recently revealed that she did adopt him.

So, even with this new boyfriend, it’s still perplexing as to how Summer will remain off canvas in the weeks ahead. Unless she returns to GC off canvas (but through dialogue in scenes) and is “away from town” now and again, visiting her new Italian boyfriend.

Still, considering what a pivotal character Summer is, this feels like a bandage solution to a problem that a recast can only solve.
