General Hospital’s Lynn Herring Talks How The ABC Soap Helped Her After Losing Her Husband

General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint that Lucy Coe is currently a busy bee, organizing the 2025 Nurses’ Ball that is set to unravel next week on Tuesday, May 20 (plus work and so much more).

With that said, her portrayer, Lynn Herring, recently marked a sad milestone and opened up about how the GH helped her after losing her husband, fellow soap veteran Wayne Northrop.

May 9 of this year was the first wedding anniversary that Herring celebrated without Wayne. As fans know, Wayne was famous for his Days of Our Lives’ role, Roman Brady, and also played the part of Alex North on the Peacock soap, some years later.

In addition, Northrop was on Port Charles, playing Rex Stanton and Dynasty as Michael Culhane. Wayne and Lynn got hitched in 1981, and he passed away in late November 2024 at the age of 77.

During a TV Insider interview, Herring talked about how the ABC soap assisted her during the loss of her husband. The Lucy Coe character has been an integral part of storylines, thanks to her work at Deception and her duties as a real estate agent.

Herring states that her daytime drama job was a nice distraction during a hard time. He tells the online publication that, “GH helped me so much, because you get there, and we have such a good group.

They’ve all been my friends for so long, so you feel like you’re coming back to family, and you crack jokes, and they just treat me like everything’s the same. It’s a total escapism to get away from any sad thoughts.”

Coe has been key in organizing the Nurses’ Ball, not only by securing funding via Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), but also through organizing the talent show aspect of the big event, hosting the festivities, and even taking part in an act this year. Fans will recall this week that she had a ‘rehearsal’ with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner), and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) for a number they are doing, which should be a fun watch.

Herring hints that fans can anticipate two ‘wonderful’ dramatic storylines that come to a head at the big event. Could one potentially be about Giovanni “Gio” Palimieri (Giovanni Mazza) and his true parental lineage?
