Days Of Our Lives Star Christie Clark Talks Heartbreaking Salem Return

Christie Clark

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that the next few weeks on the show will be filled with emotion. Fans know the end is near for John Black, as the actor who portrayed him, Drake Hogestyn, passed away in late September 2024 after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Hogestyn was just shy of his 71st birthday.

During the week of May 26-30, a slew of past characters are set to return, including Christie Clark, who has played Carrie Brady for decades. The actress recently caught up with TV Insider about the heartbreaking reason that had Carrie coming back to Salem.

Christie Clark Grew Up On Days

Clark entered the role in 1986 at the age of 13 and worked with Hogestyn from the get-go. During our TV insider interview, Clark states that Drake was like a mentor to her, someone whom she grew up with over the years; someone who gave her ‘everything’.

Clark added upon learning the news about Hogestyn, “I was just gutted that it was happening to him — the most fit, loving, gorgeous man who appreciated life. It was just heartbreaking.”

Days of Our Lives: John and Carrie

John Black & Carrie Brady’s Dynamic

It’s important to note that Carrie’s biological parents are Anna DiMera (Leann Hunley) and Roman Brady (Josh Taylor); however, John and Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) acted as the girl’s mom and dad for many years.

There was a time when John believed he was Roman Brady, and as Anna was off doing business in Europe, her stepmother, Marlena, took over as a mother-figure role for Carrie during this time. Later on, it turned out that John wasn’t Roman, but Carrie and John’s bond never really broke, and the two, along with Marlena, remained very close.

It’s understandable why Carrie would return to Salem to say goodbye to John and stand alongside his other children, as he considered her a “daughter” in every sense of the word. Christie Clark officially returns to the soap as of Wednesday, May 28, and will likely stay until John’s memorial.
