General Hospital Spoilers: You Don’t Want to Miss The Monica Quartermaine Tribute Episode

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveals that the ABC soap commemorates its 62nd anniversary on the air on Tuesday, April 1 with a rare tribute episode.

During the epi fans will see Port Charles residents turn up at the hospital for the grand opening of a new wing in honor of the former chief of staff, Dr. Monica Quartermaine (the late Leslie Charleson).

This special episode does not address Leslie Charleson’s passing, that tribute will air at a later date. Tuesday’s episode celebrates the soap’s anniversary as well as a legacy character who was a fan fave for decades. Here’s what to know!

Port Charles Celebrates Monica Quartermaine

Show spoilers indicate that on Tuesday “Beloved Port Charles residents come together in a special episode honoring the 62nd anniversary of General Hospital and the opening of the Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Care Center.”

Monica Quartermaine played an integral role in making GH a superior facility and the opening of the new wing gives the show a chance to showcase her life and times as well as her contribution.

GH executive producer Frank Valentini told Variety that the celebratory episode is “a little meta” but “The opportunity presented itself that we would have the anniversary of the hospital be on the anniversary of the show.”

GH Celebrates Monica’s Hospital Contributions

A new wing means a new GH set to film on and Valentini raved about the brand new addition. He described it as “a really beautiful set. It’s pretty incredible.”

Variety reports that the latest GH set design is like an atrium with a unique indoor/outdoor look and vibe.
Valentini explained that he wanted to “challenge the production designers to figure out a way to open it up or bring us at least partially outdoors.”

On the Monday, March 31 episode Monica was mentioned as the dramarama went down at the Q crypt. She was instrumental in getting the city to back off demolishing it and at the same time declared that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) cannot use the Quartermaine name.
