General Hospital Spoilers: Does Carly Have the Sparks with New Brennan?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that fans are still reeling over the shocking recast that unfolded recently, when actor Charles Mesure exited his role as WSB Agent, Jack Brennan.

His last show was on Thursday, January 30, and soap veteran Chris McKenna stepped into the character on Tuesday, February 4.

It’s going to take some time for fans to get used to the transition, and McKenna is sure to do an amazing job; however, will he have sparks with Laura Wright’s character, Carly Spencer?

The Chemistry Between Brearly

It’s undeniable that Carly had chemistry with Charles Mesure’s version of Brennan. Perhaps it was because of the slow-burn romance they share, as it took months for the two characters to kiss, but it might have to do with the sparks between the actor and the actress.

As it stands now, McKenna is still getting his feet wet as Brennan. When diving into a recast, most actors try to stay true to the character, while also adding their own spin to the role.

As it stands, McKenna doesn’t seem much like Mesure’s version of the WSB head; however, it’s still too early to tell whether he’ll win fans over or fall flat.

An Excuse to Break Up?

As Mesure did exit, and Brennan wasn’t exactly a long-term character with strong roots in the little town, it is interesting that the character was recast and not taken out of storylines. Was this because the show is hoping to solidify the Carly/Brennan romance, or for another reason?

After all, Brennan is secretly recruiting Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) for the WSB, and when Carly finds out, she won’t be overly pleased with her new beau.

Not only does a job like this place Joss right in the path of danger, but Brennan also hasn’t exactly been forthcoming with about this to Carly. The secret could blow up the relationship he has with Carly, which would allow Brennan to move on to someone else.

From Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), who seems to love Carly’s romantic hand-me-downs, to Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), there are plenty of fish in the sea for Brennan. There are also other romantic options for Carly, too.
