The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Damian (Nathan Owens) is believed to be Nathan Hastings (Adam Lazzare-White) son. But Damian doesn’t appear to know that, which has helped this slow reveal build.
Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) checked Amy Lewis’ (Valarie Pettiford) backstory and is convinced that Damian is his half-brother through his late father. Nate’s willingness to help Amy is about to create a reunion between mother and son.
But Nate’s efforts will also force family destiny onto the daytime table and there’s no way to know how Damian will react.
Nate didn’t have to do anything for Amy. He could have been angry when learning that his father had a child he never knew about. But he’s not because of the family lessons he’s learned.
One of the searingly saddest storylines in Y&R’s history involves Nate, long before Dominic became an adult actor to play this role. Longtime fans recall Nate as a boy crossing the street with his dad.
That horrific sequence was well-crafted for maximum impact. Devoted fans can recall the specific scene where Nathan died without needing a flashback to be shown. Nathan was killed by a car and died in front of his young son.
Nate’s mother, Olivia Barber Winters (Tonya Lee Williams), was a leading cast member during that era. It’s a shame Williams isn’t part of this storyline because she’s a great actor, and Olivia could naturally be included in current developments.
Another lady in Nate’s life, Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), figures prominently in everything happening. She and Nate have grown close recently and appear headed toward a long-term relationship that hopefully includes marriage and children.
Audra’s unexpected emotional display during a Christmas-time dinner at Society felt like a plot wink. Her comments about being affected by Nate’s family’s togetherness must have meant something.
Somehow, all of the above can translate into Audra and Damian becoming close. Both have strained family connections, which could become their boding point. That could establish the potential for a triangle to form.
Damian is being introduced without a last name, which is unusual. Unless a genetic test proves otherwise, he will be confirmed as Nathan’s son.
That doesn’t mean Damian has to replace his last name with Nathan’s. He could keep his current moniker.
As Owens’ character’s entrance tale continues, he will likely accept the family history that has been revealed or confirmed. Eventually, he could add Hastings to his name as well. This is a solid soap premise that should prove compelling.
