The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Sharon Newman (Sharon Newman) is barely living in reality. The multiple fantasy worlds she’s created inside her tortured mind have created two views.
First, Sharon needs to find out where the real Genoa City, Wisconsin, begins, and her delusions end. She has not seen Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby) quite as often with increased hologram Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).
The real Nick is very concerned about Sharon. He sees that her frazzled state of mind hasn’t improved and that news of Daniel Romalotti’s (Michael Graziadei) arrest set her off again.
Sharon’s better graces are projected through the alternative version of Morrow’s character, which resembles a hologram-like image or something out of one of the Star Wars series.
Nick knows he needs to support Sharon because he believes she’s trying to rebound. Voluntarily going off her medication was shocking, but that’s nothing compared to what he, Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster), Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), and the rest of GC may soon know.
One of the significant aspects of this storyline involves Sharon believing she is responsible for Heather Stevens’ (Vail Bloom) death and dumping her body. That belief caused her to frame Daniel at Cameron’s urging. Of course, Cameron is nothing more than the dark side of her mind.
It would seem unlikely that Cameron’s momentary absence means Sharon has banished him from her mind. His memory is part of her being and shouldn’t be.
The power of mental repression is another superb element in this Halloweeny tale. Sharon never got past killing Cameron in what was a self-defense and protective act. Instead, she repressed memories of him, and that gnawed at her psyche.
Cameron needs to be killed again. Sharon will likely confess after that because her devious impulses will be banished, but she’s not there yet.
What if Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) becomes the first person to hear Sharon admit her guilt?
The above would be spectacular soap and completely mesh with the continuation of this longstanding battle. These two iconic actors have created terrific chemistry through their characters’ decades-long battles. It would be fitting if Phyllis learned the truth and turned Sharon in.
But many other options exist, including Faith, who lives with Sharon. Mariah would be a good choice because of her unique tie to Cassie. But Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant) would also be a fine choice in the coming, inevitable reveal. The crescendo can be heard, and the climax will follow as the holiday season begins this week with Halloween.
