The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) intends to win. Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) sees a different resolve in his eyes than before.
Hiring Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) was not planned, but her efforts to convince Billy worked. He sees her as a useful tool in replacing Lily.
Phyllis sees this as an opportunity to make money, implying that whatever stash of money she received for the Grand Phoenix in the recent past is gone.
Lily’s perspective is intriguing. She feels Billy is an idiot and must believe her obfuscation regarding Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Lily is convinced Victor will make her the head Chancellor once he takes it from Billy.
Phyllis told Billy she really needed a job and successfully convinced him to agree that her computer skills outweighed her reputation. This is a dangerous pairing.
However, it would be a good soap if Victor’s projection about Billy failing takes time. What if it did not happen at all?
Allowing Phyllis into the game changes the equation. She recently told the Moustache not to use Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) as part of some scheme. The favor Victor did for Summer involved Harrison Abbott’s (Redding Munsell) paternity issue, which is seemingly resolved.
Billy is on a mission. He wants everyone to know that he will make a go of it this time.
Feeling motivated by his mother’s heart issue, Billy’s demeanor does appear to be focused. Yet, he fired Lily and basically forced Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) to leave Abbott Chancellor.
Yet, Billy may possess the ability to survive longer than Victor, Lily, and others think he can. Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) is a go-to source, and he can summon her resiliency. Billy is also John Abbott’s (Jerry Douglas) son and uses that paternal example as motivation.
Devon Winters (Bryton James) and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) were present when Billy confronted Lily at Crimson Lights. They heard the reveal about her having sabotaged him by partnering with Victor.
Lily’s initial denial was soon replaced by confirmation. While she did not let on, Devon and Nate’s warning about Victor not delivering on what he promised her was chilling.
Believing that it was best to be fired by Billy in the long run is correct. Providing Victor with confidential information about the artificial intelligence company deal AC intended to secure was very risky. Lily will likely be burned unless she accepts whatever lesser position Victor may offer if Newman Enterprises acquires Chancellor.
