Young and the Restless Spoilers: Michelle Stafford Talks About The One Place Phyllis Summers Is Not Welcome
Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers note that Phyllis Summers’s career is at a bit of a standstill thanks to the awkwardness of her son’s indiscretions at Chancellor-Winters.
Still, actress Michelle Stafford is riding quite a high wave at the moment, recently finding out she’s been nominated for a 2024 Daytime Emmy in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress.
Doing the daytime interview scene now, Stafford talks about the one place where Phyllis is never welcome.
Y&R Spoilers: Michelle Stafford Talks Daytime Emmy Nod
While chatting with Soaps.com, Michelle reveals it was the culmination of Phyllis losing her mind over Diane Abbott (Susan Walters) and thus faking her death that garnered her 2024 Daytime Emmy nomination. Stafford reveals that it was “hard to play” as she doesn’t live “in that space of being jacked up”.
Fans saw some incredible scenes from Stafford (and Phyllis) during that time, and viewers were kept on the edge of their seats during the initial rolling out of the storyline.
Stafford notes during her Soaps.com interview that she had some things going on in her personal life at the time she shot the scenes, that she incorporated into the arc.
She adds this is an “interesting challenge” as an artist but “that’s what we do.” She goes on to say, “We have to incorporate whatever is going on with us into our character. You can’t ignore it, no matter what you’re going through.”
Y&R Spoilers: Phyllis Summers Is Never Welcome In Michelle Stafford’s Home
Stafford goes on to say that incorporating real-life feelings into your character is a one-way street where she’s concerned – and Phyllis is never welcome to come home with her, especially since the character has such a volatile personality.
Stafford notes that she used to not be good at keeping Phyllis at the studios and not bringing her home, but she’s “better” at it now. One major reason is that she’s a mom, and Red has “no business” in the Stafford house.
Michelle adds, “When you’re a mom, method acting and all that stuff doesn’t work. It’s not conducive to your life.” She notes that she has to leave that (Phyllis) behind at work, as she has to go to “volleyball games and make sure the kids are doing their homework and all the other things that being a mom entails. Because that’s my life, and there’s no place for her there!”
