Days of our Lives spoilers tease that the show is revisiting an old storyline with a new character. Victor DiMera (the late John Aniston) was key to “The Pawn” storyline and now his enemy Konstantin (John Kapelos) looks set to continue the saga. Here’s what to know.

Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) Spoilers: Who Is The Pawn?

John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) are on guard and curious that Konstantin said he knew of the legendary Pawn as far back as 1985.

Konstantin saw only the man’s eyes but never forgot that sight. Now he’s about to plunge forward with a manipulative plot involving John and Steve’s past.

That’s because The Pawn is one of John’s many aliases. When he arrived in Salem, Steve was one of Victor’s goons, helping to beat Stefano DiMera (the late Joseph Mascolo) in their race for “the purse, the power, and the pawn.”

The purse was money linked to power, and they needed to find The Pawn who had escaped from Steve, an amnesiac who wandered around Salem with his face bandaged.

The man saw the name John Black on a memorial and started calling himself that.

Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) eventually removed the bandages and tried to help him regain his memories. At that time Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) thought that John was really Stefano and tried to kill him.

But Marlena discovered what she thought was the truth when she found in John’s bag, the name of doctor who operated on his face, and a photo of his alleged first face.

While Bo and John fought, Marlena was gobsmacked that the photo was of her presumed dead husband Roman Brady (Josh Taylor).

Eventually John lived as Roman for several years and even had Roman’s memories. But then the actual Roman came back. So, John dropped that moniker and took up with John Black again.

Cut to the current day, and fans still do not know why John has a new face nor what he did when he was The Pawn.

Where is this story going next? It appears that DOOL is resurrecting the legacy plot as Konstantin knows what really went down back in the day.

Konstantin is not doing this for benevolence, he definitely wants to get the drop on Steve and John, and since the canvas is need of a major evil villain, it looks like Konstantin has been tapped to fill that role.
