Days of Our Lives spoilers and rumors tease John Black’s (Drake Hogestyn) walking around looking confused and disheveled, much as he did when he first came to Salem. Even though now he has a face, a name, an identity, and even a father, could his old Pawn programming have recently been activated?
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: John Black And Steve Johnson Were Both Brainwashed Searching For The Prism
Viewers who watched the Beyond Salem series will recall that John and Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) were both brainwashed by Megan DiMera (Miranda Wilson) using a tarot card.
This was Beyond Salem 2, and Konstantin Meleounis (John Kapelos) has a tarot card now and remembers “The Pawn” and the card he has is the Pagoda card.
Megan originally brainwashed John into becoming The Pawn with a tarot card with the Pagoda for her father, Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) prior to her being electrocuted in a hot tub.
While Steve seems to be okay, other than exasperated and worried over Konstantin’s attentions to Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) John isn’t himself at all. Marlena Evans (Deidre Evans) has noticed and is worried about John, and told Steve what has been going on-that’s when Steve told John Konstantin knows about the Pawn!.
DOOL Spoilers: Old Programming Triggered, Or Memories?
John had amnesia when he first came to town and didn’t know who he was-his face was bandaged like a mummy which Stefano had been responsible for.
He gradually got some of his memories back and the rest, got from investigating his past-the name “John Black” came from a monument honoring Vietnam veterans.
Even so, John didn’t remember anything he did when he was brainwashed by Megan and working for Stefano as the Pawn, an assassin. Could his interactions with Konstantin, who obviously is being revealed as part of his Pawn past, have triggered some programming-or some memories from his days as The Pawn?

John is walking a fine line between the present and the past, between the man he once was and the man he’s become-at first thinking he was Roman Brady (Josh Taylor).
But that was what everyone thought, after Roman had been presumed dead, and no one knew different until Roman returned alive after years. Back in those days Stefano and Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) were enemies-so John, as the Pawn, was Victor’s enemy too.
Is John having memories he can’t connect to the events, and afraid to tell Steve or Marlena because they’re Pawn memories? We can imagine he’d be troubled remembering himself doing things under brainwashing that he’d never do now as himself!
