The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James) does not trust his father. Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) has demonstrated that he cares for Dominic Newman Abbott Winters Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware) but that is not enough for his father.

Devon told Tucker that he needed to realize why Ashley Abbott McCall (Eileen Davidson) felt scared when they were on their honeymoon in Paris, France. Tucker could not make Devon understand that he reached his limit with Ashley and felt that she betrayed his trust.

Of course, it is not Devon’s place to lecture his biological father on whatever marital issues he is experiencing with Ashley. Then again, Tucker did ask for his son’s input what fixing their relationship and got a soapy earful in return.

Devon told Tucker that he would side with Abby Newman Abbott (Melissa Ordway) every time. Abby supports her mother. So, that leaves Tucker in a bad spot.

Viewers wondered why Devon did not see the imbalance between taking Abby’s side rather than staying out of it. Abby has not demanded that Devon take a stand in the latest Tucker-Ashley skirmish, but he did so because of preexisting feelings.

Abby’s feelings are valid because of all Ashley endured years ago when he was cheating on her with the then-Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). So, Devon feels obligated to protect Abby’s interests and because they are a relatively new couple.

Tucker thought he finally got through to Ashley. She was the one who was involved in extended family drama, and he believed the solution was to pull away from Jabot.

St. John’s character did not explicitly say that she had to cut herself off from everyone Abbott forever. Tucker was mostly concerned with Ashley’s repeated battles with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), whose sibling dysfunction was noteworthy.

Now, without Ashley, Tucker feels emboldened. He has multiple balls in the air, with the hostile Jabot takeover again being placed at center stage. But Ashley surely must anticipate her intended ex-husband’s move.

Devon stayed in loose contact with Tucker while he was living in other parts of the world after Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) died. They did not have a contentious relationship during that period.

Tucker returned to Genoa City, Wisconsin, with two personal goals in mind. He wanted to reconcile with and remarry Ashley and reestablish his paternal bond with Devon.

While both targets were reached, the first accomplishment failed badly. So, that leaves Devon as Tucker’s last hope. If his son bails, there is no telling what Tucker will do if he believes there is nothing to lose on Y&R.
