Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) has endured a lot within the past year-plus. The relationship he had with Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) fell apart as did the bond with his daughter, Lucy Romalotti (Lily Brooks O’Briant). Then, after moving back home, his mother faked being murdered.

Daniel, Heather, and Lucy moved to Portugal after living in Savannah, Georgia, for many years. They loved it there until Daniel suffered mental health issues and went to what he called a dark place.

Heather and Lucy stayed behind until Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) decided to fly to Portugal. She updated Heather, which was meant to encourage her and Lucy to reconnect with Daniel.

Phyllis’ efforts worked as hoped, with Lucy and Daniel healing their rift. Heather was impressed but was involved with another man in Portugal. So, it seemed like her interest in Daniel was over.

Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) was Daniel’s first love and wife. Both people were very young when they ran away to California during a memorable storyline that, in some ways, does not seem that long ago.

Daniel and Lily maintained their friendship after getting divorced and were on good terms when he returned to GC. Their feelings soon reignited, and it appeared as though a serious relationship and possibly, remarriage, was ahead.

Heather was a non-factor because of her relationship break with Daniel and living in Portugal. However, a desire to reunite Lucy with her father means Heather is coming home as well.

Danny senses that his son needs a solid parent to rely on. While he was encouraged by Phyllis’ intentions to reset her life, an overheard conversation with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) altered his view.

Based on her history and seeming current state, Danny does not want to leave Daniel alone to manage Phyllis’ ongoing instability. While Danny knows Phyllis loves Daniel, her ability to self-sabotage is also destabilizing Graziadei’s character.

So, the fall is setting up for a Romalotti family reunion. While drama will be on tap, the odds of everything working out for the best are increased by Danny sticking around on Y&R.
