General Hospital (GH) Spoilers: Carly Promises To Wait For Drew, And He Tells Her To Move On

General Hospital: Carly Spencer's (Laura Wright)

General Hospital (GH) spoilers claim when Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) partner, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), received an unexpected and extreme prison sentence, their plans for the future went up in smoke. How is their relationship going to survive this time apart? Sadly, it may never have been meant to. Many fans suspect that Carly is going to find herself torn between waiting for Drew and the lingering feelings she secretly harbors for her ex-husband, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), and they may not be wrong.

General Hospital Spoilers — Carly Spencer Can’t Handle The Guilt

Drew had prepared himself for a relatively short sentence of six months in a minimum-security prison. He was willing to take the fall for Carly’s insider trading charges to protect her. However, fate had other plans in store. When the judge handed down a two-year sentence to Pentonville, Drew’s world shattered. The thought of spending two years away from his loved ones — especially his daughter — has to be weighing heavily on his mind. Carly recognizes this, and she’s not looking forward to the guilt trip she’ll blanket over herself every day that he’s gone — not to mention how his family and ex-wife are going to feel about her.

General Hospital Updates – This Isn’t What Either Of Them Wanted

Two years is a significant amount of time to put a relationship on hold. Carly and Drew are both grown-ups and recognize this. While Drew is hardly going to have options to mull over while in lock-up, Carly would have to put her life on pause to wait for Drew to come home. She’s more than willing to do this, but that doesn’t mean Drew wants to add that burden to her shoulders. She’s already carrying enough guilt and remorse for both of them. While Carly may have envisioned a future with Drew, she could now begin to question whether she can endure such a lengthy separation — or if she even wants to. Likewise, Drew doesn’t want to think of Carly in purgatory, waiting for him to get out of prison before she can move on with her life. It’s not fair to either of them to hold one another to this promise of seeing each other through this.

Drew Cain: The Martyr

Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Carly’s ex-husband, has moved on with his life and is preparing to marry Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). That’s all about to change though. Drew will be long gone by the time the truth is revealed that it was Nina who set the wheels in motion to put him and Carly behind bars. Unfortunately, there is no undoing the damage done. Drew is gone, and Carly is paying the price in more ways than one. That being said, Nina still doesn’t feel like Carly has gotten what’s coming to her. Ironically, Carly will feel the same way when the truth comes out about Nina and Sonny drops her.

Nina has yet to meet the dark and more brutal side of Sonny, but she won’t forget it when he lets her know she’s dead to him. Such a whirlwind of events will leave both Sonny and Carly picking up the pieces of their broken lives and hearts. When they start to find comfort with each other, it’s not going to be as easy for Carly to run back to her ex as it has been in the past — not when Drew is counting on her to wait for him. But we know Drew. As soon as he gets the feeling that Carly’s heart isn’t in this anymore, he’s going to set her free. Is a CarSon reunion in the works, and if so, will those who love Drew feel Carly slighted him by giving up after he went to prison for her? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to see how this pans out.
