Doubling Down With The Derricos: Deon & Karen Warn About A Scam

Doubling Down With The Derricos (DDWTD) explores the challenges of Deon and Karen Derrico as they raise multiple multiples of kids. Over the years TLC fans have come to love all of them, including Deons’ mom and Eric Jefferson, a sort of adopted nephew. But this week, they sent out alarm bells because someone is apparently scamming folks in their names.

Mostly, TLC fans like the couple because they don’t sponge off people to support their giant family. Actually, Deon works really hard in real estate. Meanwhile, Karen homeschools the kids like a pro. Plus, the kids are really bright and active, and learn about life under firm but loving guidance. Of course, managing  14 kids can be a mission, but luckily Eric steps in to help out.

Hopefully, not too many Doubling Down With The Derricos fans were caught out by a scammer. If they watched the show from the very beginning, they should know that the family buzzes with joy and rarely comes across as being needy. For a start, it would take desperation for Deon to actually consider asking fans for support in the form of donations to put food on the table and blankets on the beds.

Doubling Down With The Derricos: The Scam

On Tuesday evening, Karen and Deon shared some news on Instagram ahead of the show airing. In the joint post, they cautioned their fans because there’s a scam involving the family. From the screenshot, fans could see that the scammer requests money to help the family afford things for the kids.  Notably, it sounds genuine because the words, “It takes a village to raise a village” appear in the bait.

When Doubling Down With The Derricos dad, Deon shared about the fake fundraiser, he seemed very worried that people might fall for it.  In his caption, he said, “[WE] wouldn’t take to social asking for monetary help!! This is a fake page please don’t fall for any of these scams trying to gain your sympathy for us in any way!!” Clearly, he feels angered about it, so he told people that unless it came directly from him and his wife, then they should be wary of it. In fact, he told people that if they want to check the veracity, they can DM the couple. So, he confirmed: “This is a fake page DO NOT DONATE.”

Karen Also Warned TLC Fans

Knowing the Doubling Down With The Derricos family,  fans can imagine that Karen was probably shocked to find out about the scam. She said, “Nope not me! DO NOT DONATE ANY MONEY TO THIS ACCOUNT!! FAKE! FAKE! FAKE!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡.” 

In the comments, fans of the show seemed to think it was a low kind of thing to do. One of them said, “Pathetic! Geez people come on!”
