General Hospital (GH) Spoilers: Willow’s Family Rallies Around Her – Will The Transplant Work?

General Hospital: Willow Corinthos’ (Katelyn MacMullen)

General Hospital (GH) spoilers and updates tease that soon Willow Corinthos’ (Katelyn MacMullen) family and friends will rally around her. As she receives the bone marrow transplant that nearly wasn’t able to happen, they have to wonder-will the transplant work.

General Hospital Spoilers – Last-Minute Save

Thanks to Victor Cassadine’s (Charles Shaughnessy) kidnapping of Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) the day before she was supposed to donate her bone marrow, there were fears Willow would die. Of course, there were fears Liesl and eighty percent of the world’s population would die when it was discovered that Victor had a pathogen. The fears only increased for Willow’s survival when she collapsed shortly after she and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) married and had to be rushed to General Hospital.

At the time, it was found that Willow’s lymph glands were pressing on her organs and her bone marrow was no longer producing many cells. She went into immediate chemo, isolation, and immunotherapy but soon Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) brought Liesl home, but it was literally a last-minute save.

General Hospital Updates – It’s A Long Road To Recovery

As her friends and family pray outside the procedure room where Willow receives Liesl’s bone marrow, they know it’s a long road to recovery but first, it has to take. It could be weeks before that is known because “recovery” means all the leukemia is gone and she’s producing her own healthy blood cells from Liesl’s donation of bone marrow. There’s a chance, however small, that because of Willow’s advanced stage four leukemia even the transplant won’t work, and so she will remain in isolation, continuing chemo and immunotherapy.

She will remain in the isolation chamber indefinitely until her medical tests show that she can survive, and it could be several weeks to months away from her children. They and even Michael may have to stay outside the protective window and talk through a phone-strangely akin to prison.

Maybe Completely Cured In Six Weeks?

Leaked behind-the-scenes photos show the isolation room set still intact, whether Willow will recover or not, approximately six weeks after her transplant airs. Willow will have a nurse referred to on a “call card” as Nurse Clara (unknown actor) with her. This “call card” is just a directing tool showing the players in the scene when to be in the set shown.

Willow apparently is in on the long haul recovery, although in screen time one day can stretch out several days. It may be anywhere from the first full week of June into July before it’s known if the transplant takes and does its intended job.

  1. […] Greg informed Alexis of his diagnosis which took her by surprise. Alexis tried to convince Greg to tell his two sons. Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) but Greg has no intention of burdening his sons with his diagnosis. And because Alexis pressured Gregory into revealing the truth to her, he doesn’t want much to do with her at the moment either. While it’s possible he has been diagnosed incorrectly, it’s more like that Greg will succumb to this fatal disease sooner rather than later. […]
