Disney News: Company Announces Sequels For Frozen & Toy Story

Disney fans who can’t get enough of the Toy Story and Frozen flicks can rejoice! The company just announced that they are adding sequels to these beloved Pixar movie franchises. This week, Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, revealed a number of major new projects the conglomerate is working on during the earnings call for the year-end quarter of 2022.

Disney News: Wait … What? More Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Woody, and Buzz?

Audiences aren’t the only ones excited to learn there will be a third Frozen movie and a fifth Toy Story film on the horizon. Some of the actors that lend their voices to these larger-than-life characters are also stoked. Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear) hopped on Twitter recently to share his enthusiasm. In a tweet he notes, “See ya soon Woody,” also stating that Buzz’s longtime companion is a “sad, strange little man” that has his “pity”. He adds to the post by saying, “off we go to a #5!”, ending it with, “to infinity and beyond!”

Meanwhile, Josh Gad (Olaf) shares his happiness for another Frozen, via Instagram. Placing a comment under an article announcing Frozen III, Gad writes, “back to the unknown”, adding ‘#frozen3’ and a snowflake symbol along with it.

In addition to more Frozen and Toy Story movies, Disney announced an added installment to the Zootopia franchise as well … coming soon!

The History Behind Frozen & Toy Story

Toy Story has been a movie staple for Disney over the years, with the first one being released in 1995. There have been four produced in total, including a recent Lightyear spin-off. Toy Story is a prominent franchise showcased within Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California, and there are many rides and areas dedicated to the movie throughout both theme parks.

Meanwhile, Frozen was an animated phenomenon in itself, debuting in 2013, with the sequel being released in 2019. In addition to the movies, the film inspired a Disney on Ice tour, several short flicks, television specials, books, and a Broadway show. Are you excited about more Toy Story and Frozen movies ahead?
