The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers document that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) gave it his best shot. He had to trick Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) into having dinner with him, but she agreed to do so.

Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) has not fully committed to Sally. He also heard his younger brother’s plea and gave Hope’s character an out.

But Sally’s forced meeting with Adam did not go as he hoped. Sally has not forgiven Adam and more importantly, realized that his actions toward her might be a gift.

Adam and Sally were falling in love with each other. But their connection was only running hot through the summer.

They were nowhere near engagement, have not been together long enough to be deeply entangled, and can break without each person’s world falling apart. Sally admitted to Nick that she still cares for Adam and believes they did have something special.

But Adam’s unique charms come with his chaotic lifestyle, which eventually pushed him to cut Sally off as though she were a client who was not a good business fit.

Nick is truly the opposite of Adam. Beyond being older, wiser, and having more varied experiences in marriage and as a father, he treats Sally with more respect.

Adam is all about drama. He connected with Sally, after initially resisting her overtures, because of a sense that each person shared a similar personality type.

Sally was physically attracted to Adam. Like him, she commiserated with being the outcast. Yet, the ruthless method he used to dump her, including the later explanation about believing it was a form of protection, proved too much.

Sally is not known to have ever been married to anyone when she was living in Los Angeles, California, on The Bold and the Beautiful. She has been involved with three men since moving to Genoa City, Wisconsin, and has not married here either.

Nick has the best potential to be Mr. Right. Sally appears to have learned from her first connection with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). It went nowhere because she was not ready for a mature relationship.

Adam appeared to represent potential. But he proved to be more of a crush, with his immaturity tipping the scales to failure.

Morrow’s character has been single for a while. Sally has some Phyllis Summers’-like (Michelle Stafford) qualities. Jack recognized them as well. But she is a unique person, as Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) told Nick in the fabled Crimson Lights setting.
