The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Jill Abbott Atkinson (Jess Walton) told her team of executives that she thinks taking the just-merged corporation public is a good idea. Jill’s exuberance caught three of her four underlings off-guard.
The only person who did not openly oppose the risky idea was Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), who quit Chancellor Winters shortly thereafter. Teasers indicate that he is determined to provide whatever intel Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) needs.
Nate’s intent is to teach Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) a lesson. If he needs to damage his family, which includes his other cousin, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), then so be it.
Imani Benedict (played by a stand-in, Denise Boutte, during Leigh-Ann Rose’s temporary absence) has increasingly become a negative influence in Nate’s life. That is the setup for Nate to pursue a ruthless course on Y&R.
It feels out of character for Nate to turn against Lily by intending to attack CW. Even considering that Nate had no qualms in targeting Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy), which ended Devon’s relationship with her, this step feels contrived.
Daytime is about drama. So, TPTB made a decision to turn Nate’s character into a disloyal family member, building off his apparent belief that he was better for Elena than Devon.
Victoria held her cards under the table at Crimson Lights, mimicking her scoundrel father, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). She had what Lily thought was a mogul-to-mogul chat. But that is not what it was.
Heinle’s character was on a fishing expedition, attempting to gauge the state of CW. Victoria did that after having an earlier conversation with Nate, where he volunteered his opinion about dysfunction.
Nate tells Victoria, and she suggested there would be a place for him at Newman Enterprises after the numerous acquisitions she made. Lily’s tell to Victoria about her awareness of those deals was intended to express her acumen in a friendly manner.
Jill’s green light of the merger between Chancellor Industries, Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) fabled company that she recruited Victor to Genoa City, Wisconsin to lead in 1980, and Hamilton Winters is just playing out. It is surprising that someone with a good business sense, which Jill has, would want to take the merged company public.
It seems Nate plans to relay the intended public stock offering idea to Victoria, who would gain the power to exploit it. Would Jill allow the Newmans to gain a non-controlling interest in CW, knowing that Victoria and Victor would likely seek eventual dominance?
As for the family, Elena told Nate that his plan is wrong. But he is not interested in doing right on Y&R while Imani hovers around him.
