Spencer had been causing trouble for his father Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) and his wife Ava Jerome-Cassadine (Maura West). Spencer did not want Nikolas to be with Ava and started to try to break them up by stalking Ava. Spencer had help from girlfriend Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) to pull of his plan. Spencer has decided to start to take his life in a different direction after the truth came out about his stalking. Spencer has missed having his grandmother Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis) to turn to for advice. Spencer and Laura share a special bond. Spencer turned to Laura when he believed that Nikolas had died. Laura has been trying to help Nikolas and Spencer to find a way to get back the close father and son bond that they shared in the past. Laura has had to be away from Port Charles because she and her brother Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) had to go into hiding. Laura and Martin have been targeted by their brother Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).

Laura has decided that it is time for her and Martin to go back to Port Charles to help their family. Spencer had decided that he would take Laura and his husband Dr. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) up on their offer to help him with his problems after the truth came out about his stalking Ava. Laura will be impressed that Spencer decided to get a job at Kelly’s in order to get the help that she and Kevin offered him. Spencer will be happy to have Laura back to offer her support and guidance to him.
