Rice Krispie Treat Holiday Snowman
What kid doesn’t love building a snowman? I love that these holiday Rice Krispie Treat Snowmen bring the fun of making the perfect snowman inside! Kids will have an easy time making the snowmen with the help of an adult. Get them to show off their creative side by decorating the snowman with candy eyes, M&M buttons and a graham cracker Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup hat.
Rice Krispie Treat Holiday Snowman Recipe
Ingredients
2 packages of 8 ct. Original Rice Krispie Treats
8-10 Wilton candy sticks
2 12 oz packages of Wilton white chocolate candy melts
1 12 oz package of Wilton black candy melts
Chocolate graham crackers
Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Candy eyes
M&M’s – mini baking bits or regular both work fine for the snowman’s buttons and nose
Small sandwich baggie
Kitchen scissors
Parchment lined baking sheet
2-3 short mugs or glasses to stand the snowmen up in while they set
Directions
1. Open all the Rice Krispie Treats and discard the wrappers.
2. Set aside 1 Rice Krispie Treat for the base of all the snowmen. Next, take a 2nd Rice Krispie Treat and cut it in half; this will be the snowman’s mid-section. Take the other half you just cut and cut that in ½ making the snowman’s head.
Stack the pieces upside down (see photo) and insert 1 candy stick carefully into the snowman’s body.
Repeat this process with all the snowman.
3. Pour 1 package of candy melts into a microwave safe dish. Heat in 30 second increments, stirring every 30 seconds until melted. Allow the melted chocolate to cool a few minutes prior to dipping your snowman.
4. Carefully coat the snowman with white chocolate. Use a spoon to help cover him completely and allow the excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl. Lay the snowman on the parchment lined baking sheet.
Give him eyes, a nose and buttons while the chocolate is still wet.
Repeat with the other snowmen. **You will probably have to melt the 2nd package of candy melts (it is easier to melt them separately).
#5. Once all the snowmen are dipped and set (you can put them in the fridge a few minutes to speed up the setting process), take ½ a graham cracker for the snowman’s hat.
**You might need to re-melt the chocolate for this part.
Using a small spoon, spread some of the white chocolate onto the snowman’s head and place a graham cracker there. Next, spread a little bit of the white chocolate on the top of the mini Reese’s Peanut Butter cup and place it upside down on the graham cracker.
Stand the Snowman up in the short mug/glass to set and repeat, giving all the snowmen hats.
#6. Lastly, melt about ¼ cup of the Wilton black chocolate melts following the same directions as above.
Allow them to cool a few minutes and then scoop the melted chocolate into the small sandwich baggie. Snip the corner of the baggie using the kitchen scissors.
Gently squeeze the melted chocolate out and give each snowman a stick arm. I simply started on the side of hide body and brought it around the front and then gave them each 2 ‘twigs’ as shown.
*Makes approximately 8-10 snowmen. 1 snowman = 1 serving.
Enjoy!
