Pink Shares Empowering Speech About Her Daughter Willow

Pink wants her daughter Willow to know that she’s beautiful just the way she is. The chart topper managed to bring the house down at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards by sharing a powerful speech about her 6-year-old daughter, Willow.

When the celebrity mother of two took the podium to accept her Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, she took the opportunity to share an inspiring speech about self-acceptance with the audience. Pink says she felt rather concerned after Willow came home saying that she felt like the “ugliest girl” in her class. Willow also told her mother that she thinks she looks like “a boy with long hair.”

Pink, her husband Carey Hart and Willow all came to the video music awards dressed in matching suits.
“You’re beautiful,” Pink recalled telling her daughter. “When people make fun of me they say I look like a boy or I’m too masculine or I’m too outspoken. Do you see me growing my hair? Do you see me changing my body? Do you see me selling out arenas all over the world? Baby girl, we don’t change. We take the gravel in the shell and make a pearl. We help other people to change, so they can see all kinds of beauty.” Pink ended her powerful speech by thanking her contemporaries and sending a little more love to her daughter again.  

“To all the artists here, I’m so inspired by you guys,” Pink said. “There’s so much rad s— happening right now in music. Keep doing it and keep shining. And you my darling girl are beautiful and I love you.”
