In December, my mother and I decided to take one last mother/daughter trip with my four-year-old daughter, Ava, before I give birth to the twins. This was going to be Ava’s last trip with us before the babies are here, and I wanted to make the last hurrah extra special for her. So, we decided to sail Disney Cruise out of Miami, where Ava would have a trip of lifetime with all her favorite Disney friends. By far her most magical and memorable moment while cruising the Disney Magic was her trip to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.
We all remember the classic scene in Disney’s movie Cinderella – when her Fairy God Mother flew in and saved the day. She waved her magic wand, swirled some fairy dust, and sang out “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!” and transformed beautiful Cinderella in to a Princess. What little girl hasn’t dreamed of having a Fairy God Mother just like Cinderella’s to come in and transform them in to a Princess for a day? Well, that’s exactly what Ava got at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – and it was truly a magical experience for her.
The day of Ava’s appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique we arrived a few minutes early, an adorable woman named Beth greeted us and introduced herself to Ava as her Fairy God Mother-in-Training. The salon was beautiful – I was truly in awe and a little jealous that I couldn’t get the Princess treatment myself. The vanities and chairs were absolutely beautiful, and definitely fit for a little Princess. Beth who was very soft-spoken was amazing with Ava, and they were chatting like old friends in no time. The boutique is for children ages 3-12 years old, so I was a little skeptical about how well Ava would do sitting still in the chair, but Beth handled her like a pro and was truly wonderful with her.
Watching Ava’s magical transformation to her favorite Disney Princess Rapunzel was worth every penny we spent that day at the Boutique. The entire package included Ava’s Rapunzel dress, make-up, and the ‘Diva’ hairstyle. Ava who hates having her hair picked at was smiling ear-to-ear while her Fairy God Mother-in-Training did up her hair. When leaving the boutique, she was so proud and she couldn’t stop chatting away about getting her hair and make-up to everyone she saw. Ava twirled in her Princess dress all night. She has already worn her outfit and made me do her hair since coming home!
If you’re cruising on the Fantasy, Magic or Dream Disney Cruise Line ships with your little ones this year, then you have to book them an appointment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! And, it’s not just for mini Princesses, little boys are welcome too. While Ava’s Fairy God Mother-In-Training was transforming her into a tiny Rapunzel, there was a little boy at the Boutique a few chairs down that was getting dressed up as a knight!
Just to note, they recommend booking you appointment when online activity book opens. You would be surprised just how busy the Boutique is. And, trust me there is nothing more heartbreaking than having to tell your kids that they can’t do a certain activity that they see because you didn’t make reservations in advance.
Our Disney Cruise was a ‘magical’ and fun-filled trip. I am so happy that Ava got one last hurrah as the only child – and my mother and I had a chance to spoil her, just the three of us. Ava is already begging to take another trip to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and is daydreaming about what Disney Princess she wants to be transformed in to next. I know her trip to the Boutique is a childhood memory she will cherish for many years to come and of course she has some super adorable photos of herself dressed as Rapunzel to commemorate the big day.
