Pregnancy: Determining Your Due Date

When you become pregnant one of the first things you want to know is how to determine your due date. There are a few ways of doing so, and you don’t even need to see your doctor right away.

There are several due date calculators available when doing a quick search online, I will post links to the ones I have found best below. If you have a smart phone, you can also download apps. Those are fun because you can also get info sent to you weekly about the changes in your body and baby.

One of the ways of determining your due date is by the date of your last period. This will give you a pretty accurate range, and it is what most practitioners go by.

If you are like me, and you know the exact date you got pregnant, there is not other day possible, you can also determine it by the date of conception and it will give you a more accurate date.

Of course knowing the length of your menstrual cycle and even the luteral phase also play into things and if you can account for those, your due date will be even more accurate.

Here are some options for determining your pregnancy due date:

Just Mommies – This site allows you to determine your due date by the date of conception or by your last menstrual cycle. It also allows you to take into account the length of your menstrual cycle and luteal phase. When you get your due date, you also give you all kinds of fun facts on your growing baby.

Baby Center – Like Just Mommies, you can determine your due date by the date of conception or by your last menstrual cycle. I like this site because they have a newsletter you can sign up for, an app for your phone, and detailed pictures of what your baby looks like at each stage. They also offer tools for trying to conceive. It is a very in depth site with tons of information.

Baby Zone – I really like this site because it is interactive and offers a lot of information. Once you determine your due date, you get information on each trimester and your pregnancy week by week. They also have a full menu of info on getting pregnant, being pregnant, life with your baby, showers and parties, buying for baby, and beyond baby. It is a one stop shop full of information and fun.

What to Expect – This site offers a ton of in depth information on pregnancy and beyond. It helps you understand how your due date is determined and why it seems like you are pregnant for 42 weeks. They go in depth on the topic as well as other pregnancy topics such as preconception, the first year and toddlers.
