The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Phyllis Refuses to Lose Matt, A Soul Mate Twist Changes Everything

The Young and The Restless: Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford)

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) feels emboldened.

She believes that surviving Martin Laurent’s (Christopher Cousins) kidnapping, seizing control of Newman Enterprises, and being given Arabesque means that anything is possible.

Included in that everything is the relationship she’s pursuing with the reforming Matt Clark (Roger Howarth), who was confused by her initial interest in him.

That seemed to be a ruse when she bashed him on the head so he could be used as trade bait with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

Now, weeks later, Phyllis appears sincere about wanting a romantic connection with Matt.

He remains partially reticent but also recognizes that she is the only person in Genoa City, Wisconsin, who is willing to accept his redemption path.

Two Peas In The Same Pod?

Phyllis is right when comparing her backstory to Matt’s. While he doesn’t know about her arguably darkest day, Phyllis attempted murder.

Devoted fans recall that she intentionally ran down Christine Romalotti (Lauralee Bell) and Paul Williams (Doug Davidson).

That happened decades ago, when Phyllis first learned to loathe Christine, whom she dubbed “The Bug,” because Bell’s character was loved by Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian).

Digitally skipping to today, Phyllis has never been prosecuted for what seems to be an unprovable case.

Christine is GC’s District Attorney for the second time and could always revisit that cold case.

So, Matt’s criminal backstory isn’t something Phyllis shies away from. They see themselves as sorry for past indiscretions and want to move forward.

Nick Newman Refuses To Accept The Situation

Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) recently had a meltdown at Crimson Lights. That’s the setting where he and Matt once beat on each other, which came during a period when a then-single Sharon Collins (Sharon Case) was a point of violent contention between both young men.

After criminally assaulting Sharon, Matt was forever and rightly a major bad guy. He returned with a different face years later and attempted to frame Nick for his faked death.

The most recent Matt revival began in London, England, where Matt traveled to lure Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) to Los Angeles, California.

He wanted to draw the Newman family out and did, which led to a kidnapping, an attempt to kill them, and Nick’s overdose.

Matt Clark’s Gamble Is High-Risk

Phyllis is a good friend for Matt. She seems likely to become his girlfriend, romantic partner, or whatever term he and Red are comfortable with calling each other.

However, Phyllis is single at this stage of her life because she has often alienated the men around her.

Matt will probably find himself seeking to commiserate with Nick, who, along with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), knows Phyllis as well as any man in town.

Matt has limited options right now. Allowing Phyllis to remove the ankle monitor Victor ordered him to wear will be another problem this apparent new couple faces from their unadoring public.
