The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Diane Playing Doctor Markham & Jack Foolishly Blocks Detective Burrow

The Young and The Restless: Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters)

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) was thinking out loud.

That was the plot technique Y&R used to have her tell the audience she was going to play Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns).

Diane is in survival mode at the fortified compound where she’s being held captive.

Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) has a hold over the bad doctor, whose purpose is to convince Diane to leave Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) behind.

Meanwhile, within the heart of Genoa City, Wisconsin, Jack told Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) that he doesn’t want Detective James Burrow (Matt Cohen) to know what’s happening. That foolish defensive reaction will extend Diane’s torment.

Detective James Burrow To The Rescue

Think of this easy solution. Kyle calls Cohen’s character, and he goes to Dr. Markham’s home with at least one other officer.

Detective Burrow takes a warrant so he can search the premises, finds Diane inside, and the storyline is over.

Of course, the above scenario could be extended beyond a quick resolution. The detective could arrive and Dr. Markham could prevent entry, assuming no warrant was obtained.

Alternatively, Patty’s apparent puppet could take Detective Burrow hostage if he chose to go to that house alone. That would set in motion what would be the eventual end of this tale.

The Young and The Restless: Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman)

Jack Abbott Plays The Hero

Jack doesn’t want his son putting himself at risk. So, either he will accompany him to Dr. Markham’s house, or he’ll go there with other reinforcements.

The choice to have Patty move into the Abbott house was deeply questionable.

But to allow her to dictate that Kyle and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) move out went beyond the pale. Jack put himself in danger of being drugged again or worse.

However, this is a soap opera, and viewers are suspending disbelief in order to allow the plot to flow forward at the start of this Midwestern summer. Yet, fans are wondering how Jack plans to indefinitely deceive Patty, who is no fool.

Kyle Abbott’s Question Creates Chilling Response

Jack offered a surprising response to Kyle’s question about Patty. Diane’s panicked husband told him that he’s running out of options and didn’t discount divorcing Diane and marrying Patty to keep her pacified.

Patty has been willing to give Jack some rope. She wants to believe that he’s adjusting to a post-Diane life and expects him to deliver on the promise of them reconciling.

But at some not-too-distant point, Jack must go beyond dodging Patty’s advances.

Diane simultaneously needs Dr. Markham to believe that she’s accepting his direction and will leave Jack behind.

Of course, Jack and Diane’s fates aren’t to go their separate ways. That means pressure will build in GC and in the woods, where Dr. Markham is holding Diane hostage at Patty’s command.
