Arabesque is a broken-down company in need of an overhaul but it’s all Phyllis has got and she’s determined to make the most out of the dregs.
Phyllis Given Arabesque
Victor offered Arabesque as a fixer-upper, a company any self-respecting person would run from. But this is Phyllis we’re talking about, a woman who feeds off the crumbs of others.
Think about it: when was the last time Phyllis had a reputable story of her own? For eons now she’s been swanning around town either sticking her nose in other people’s business or stealing from them.
Phyllis & Matt Make Sense
Victor gave the broken company to Phyllis as a thank you for saving Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) life when in reality she only did so because of Matt Clark’s (Roger Howarth) knowledge of CPR.
Phyllis has big plans to forge an empire but she’ll need employees to pull that off.
Lauren Fenmore (Tracy Bregman) was willing to work with Phyllis at what used to be NE, but we doubt she’d be interested in joining Phyllis at a cast-off company.
Will Matt Make the Jump?
Lauren has too much going for her to demean herself by attaching her name to disreputable business. But Matt Clark has nothing to his name and a desire to improve himself.
That makes him the perfect person for Phyllis to poach.
Matt is working for Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) at the moment. But he is not comfortable being Victor’s shady lapdog.
The Young and the Restless Summertime
It makes perfect sense that Phyllis offers Matt an opportunity to work with her. It would be a way to make amends for tricking him and some fans have noticed a spark between them.
