It was harsh but accurate to say that Brooke’s view of FC was out of touch. They lost a business battle, and she wants to make it personal. Although Katie knows that part of the reason she accepted Bill’s amazing wedding gift was to prove herself to Brooke.
So, it’s okay that Brooke currently wants to make nice with Katie. But that probably won’t reverse this storyline’s trajectory.
Sibling Battle Is Believable And Supercharged
Kudos to B&B’s writing staff for creating a storyline that mines this great soap opera’s rich history. Family battles between the Forresters, Spencers, and Logans have filled the pages of its scripts across the decades.
Pitting Katie as Brooke’s battering ram allows their past confrontations to be revisited and blended into modern times. While Lang’s character is no threat to take Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), as she did years ago, Brooke remains someone who knows how to impact Katie’s confidence.
The bottom line is that Brooke is Katie’s beloved sister, whom she’s looked up to since childhood. Without their mother, she is that mother figure for Katie. That’s just one reason why the latest falling out creates a heavy emotional toll.
Adding To The Reserves At Both Fashion Houses
FC is losing the battle through attrition. Katie fled the company when she felt sidelined.
Deke Sharpe (Harrison Cone) wasn’t booted from FC; he simply wasn’t offered a contract, and that made him a free agent. Katie’s subsequent conversation with him projects to Logan, adding a rising designer to its building team.
Getting Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle) to sign on with Logan would be a terrific coup. Brooke would go wild because Hope is far more than the head of FC’s still-paused Hope for the Future line; she’s her daughter, which would make that loss completely personal.
Katie Logan Spencer Fights Like Dollar Bill
Katie told her renewed husband something surprising in the aftermath of their remarriage. She wanted him to put the sword necklace back on, and he did.
But Bill told the true love of his life, which isn’t Brooke, that she needs to have a killer business instinct. That includes when she goes head-to-head with FC.
The widening war between these intertwined families is great soap because of the many plot paths that can be tread upon. The unpredictability of any outcome, tension put on familial and romantic relationships, also makes this a compelling daytime story that has no signs of resolution anytime soon.
