Sixty years after a mysterious silver UFO descended on an Australian schoolyard, witnesses recall the experience clearly. The memorable event went down at Westall in 1966. Notably, hundreds of students and teachers watched several objects perform maneuvers in broad daylight. After decades of silence, those who were there seem fed up with the secrecy and they want answers. These days, so do a whole lot of other folks. Read on to find out more.

A Mass Sighting In Australia

Recently, ABC News In-depth re-explored the old story and many witnesses candidly explained what they saw. Actually to this day, they all seem to recollect things vividly. Probably, the experience set them apart for the rest of their lives. Additionally, the large number of people who experienced the event only makes them all the more believable.

Some of the former students spoke about seeing silver, saucer-shaped discs that moved at “incredible speeds” before one performed a “controlled descent” behind a grove of trees. For those less skeptical in a newer generation, red flags came because uniformed men soon arrived on the scene. And, you can bet your last dollar, that wasn’t a coincidence.

In the video on YouTube, witnesses recalled that the arrivals looked military and jeeps arrived just a few minutes after the strange craft disappeared. Back in the day, and even sometimes in recent years, weather balloons are blamed for unexplained sightings.

And in Australia, that was the exact explanation to the school kids. “It was probably just a weather balloon,” they told them. But one witness reported seeing airplanes flying near the saucers that quickly evaded them. And now, it turns out that some teachers were allegedly threatened with the loss of their jobs if they spoke out about the UFO sighting.

Echoes Of Ariel School

Certainly it’s not a stand-alone incident. Probably, you heard about the 1994 incident in Ruwa, Zimbabwe. In that case, 62 children at Ariel School claimed they saw a silver craft land near their playground. Like the Westall witnesses, the Zimbabwean students described beings with large eyes and felt a sense of telepathic communication.

Both events involved groups of children seeing something that adults tried dismissing as imagination or hysteria. If you think about it, that’s a ton of folks half out of their minds for no particular reason. These days, folks are less inclined to buy into the mass hysteria or weather balloon story. And that probably explains the excitement about the upcoming Steven Spielberg movie, Disclosure Day.

UFO Seemed Real To Witnesses

While skeptics talk about secret military testing or those pesky runaway weather balloons, those who actually experienced the event don’t believe what they were told. One former student noted that it was “almost impossible” to forget the humming sound and the way the grass was flattened where the object hovered.

For many of them, what seems almost as mysterious as the unidentified craft, is the reluctance by authorities to talk about it. Suspiciously, they seemed to bury it very quickly. Notably it’s not just tied to school kids who saw UFO craft or beings. Adults also experienced it and without exception, they all get buried or ignored.

Perhaps that’s why there’s a lot of support for Congress talking about this stateside. And, it should be noted that President Trump’s claim that real UAP files will drop definitely brings interest across the political divide.

Viewers React

As more news arrives about unidentified craft, UAPs, more people become convinced that worldwide, governments hid the truth about other life forms from people. Plus, more than one mass sighting makes it impossible to discount. In the comment section, one viewer wrote:

Wow I can’t believe another one of these happened!! There are at least two other schools that have had similar visitations with tons of kids reporting the same experience. One was in Zimbabwe at Ariel school in 1994 and one was in Wales at Broad haven school in 1977.

Here are a few other reaponses from from the discussion:

  • The weather balloon is one of the worst excuses ever.
  • Why are people so quick to dismiss so many first hand witness accounts but immediately accept a claim of “a weather balloon”[?]
  • This was beautifully produced, with fresh perspectives. Bravo, team ABC.
  • This is one of the most compelling UFO stories out there. I still fall in the skeptic category, but this one is rather convincing. Hundreds of people misremembering or lying about the same thing seems rather unlikely. Good coverage of an interesting story.
