Cameron Mathison: GH Star Swaps Drew Cain Drama For Double Holiday Magic
From Port Charles to Budapest: Cameron Mathison celebrates a career-first with two holiday movies hitting the screen.

General Hospital (GH) fans know Cameron Mathison for playing the ever despicable role of Drew Cain. But, the ABC soap isn’t the only focus in his life, and he reminded folks that he also films Christmas movies. Read on to find out more.
Keen To Get Back To Work
Most fans know about Great American Family, which seems wholesome and usually very sweet. Actually, it’s not something most ABC fans associate with Drew Cain. But it’s real enough for Cameron Mathison, who took to Instagram on the weekend.
In his post, he showed himself returned from a vacation, and he mentioned his excitement about films for the holidays. In his caption, he wrote:
Somewhere between packing bags and boarding this flight, it hit me. This is the first time I will have two Christmas movies coming out in the same season. Grateful and ready to get to work.

While he’s been on Hallmark for years, there is quite a big expansion of his Home Sweet Christmas franchise with Candace Cameron Bure.
A Royal Movie In Europe
The first of the two films that Cameron Mathison talked about is the threequel; A Sweet Christmas Anniversary. Picking up where the last film left off, Sophie and Sam head to Budapest, Hungary, to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Actually, it wasn’t that long ago, that the rela-life Drew Cain shared about ice skating in the magical city.
Apparently, the synopsis for the movie involves a hotelier involving them in a royal mystery. Somehow, it involves a hidden connection to an old Christmas song. Judging by pics shared by the General Hospital star, the production team really leaned into realism by filming in the real city.
Holiday Movies In Theaters
The second project that Cameron Mathison talked about probably relates to GAF’s new project that puts holiday movies on the big screen. That came after the success of Another Sweet Christmas. You might recall that it did have a limited run through Fathom Events.
While the final title name isn’t known yet, insiders suggested that it continues the trend of featuring Mathison in a family-centric romance that bridges the gap between streaming and cinema. Per Nasdaq, Bill Abbott, the President & CEO, Great American Media said:
We believe families are seeking quality, heartfelt entertainment that brings people together and sharing that experience in theatres across the country will be truly special.
Fans React
While GH fans might despise the role of Drew, they grow increasingly fond of Cameron. One reader said, “GO CAM!!! can’t wait to see both!!”
Here are a few more reactions from the discussion area:
