Cameron Mathison is an actor recognized for various projects, particularly his roles in soap operas such as General Hospital. In recent years, he has also been open about his health journey with his fans-at a recent event, he offered some advice that he believes has saved his life in the past.

This comes after Mathison shared a new health update on social media; he is best known to many for his work in soap opera.

Since 2021, he has portrayed Drew Cain on General Hospital; before this, he was famous for playing Ryan Lavery on All My Children from 1998 to 2011. Lately, Mathison has also gained recognition for his roles in various Hallmark and Great American Family movies.

Cameron Shared Some Health Advice With Fans Recently

Recently, Mathison attended the 33rd Annual Movieguide Awards-during this event, he shared advice with fans while reflecting on his health journey.

The actor has often opened up about his struggles; in 2019, he revealed his diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma; in 2025, he disclosed that his home was lost in the Eaton fire.

At the recent event, speaking with Fox News Digital, Mathison urged listeners to “pay attention to their body” regarding issues like “digestion” and “energy.” He stressed that being mindful of his body in this way “definitely saved my life.” Mathison warned against being overly hypochondriacal but noted he was very “diligent” about “testing” and addressing his body’s concerns.

Mathison Urged Fans Not To Jump To Conclusions, But Get Tested If In Doubt

Mathison encouraged his fans to take a gradual approach-he mentioned that while it’s important not to jump to conclusions about minor pains. But he advised, “But over time, if you do testing and blood work and different things and things are off over time, like, get an MRI, check it out.” In a recent Instagram update, Mathison revealed that a recent scan confirmed he is officially six years cancer-free.

He particularly highlighted that his kidney functions have actually improved. Throughout his health journey, while conversing with the outlet, Mathison remarked that this entire experience taught him a great deal about his own physical condition.

Cameron Has Learned Things About His Body And Genetic Makeup That Were Off

The actor stated, “I learned things about my body and my natural genetic makeup that were off; things like, I don’t detoxify very well.

There are certain things that I have to be really aware of, so it really drove me to be more in-depth, a deeper, deeper dive on my health.” As per the Patient Resource website, gastrointestinal issues prompted Mathison to undergo the MRI that brought his kidney health to light. He also had surgery to remove the tumor, along with about one-fifth of his kidney.
