The Young And The Restless Ratings Keep Sinking, Should We Worry?

The Young and the Restless news says that this is a problem that is clearly not going away anytime soon.
The Ratings Keep Sinking
That’s because a lot of fans are concerned that viewership keeps on going down. In fact, the ratings are so bad that a lot of Y&R fans are now tuning in to hate watch rather than tune in to follow their favorite storylines.
If that weren’t enough, there’s a report that says The Young and the Restless took a huge hit this past month in total viewers.
So, what does this mean for the soap going forward? If significant changes aren’t being made, then there’s a very good chance that the producers of the show might have to start thinking about cuts or worse, reducing the amount of new episodes that are aired each season.

That means less Victor Newman, less Adam Newman, and less overall Genoa City drama that a lot of people have grown up with.
Clearly, many Y&R fans had a lot to say about the matter on social media.
Some even commented with, “I think a few weeks in succession of losing viewers would make JG and other’s job security wobbly. We need a downward trend versus a blip around holidays.”
The Ratings Keep Going Down
“They don’t deserve the viewership they have… whatever it is…most of it is loyalty… But that’s only because of audience age… And that too will dissipate!”
Another critic of the soap wrote, “Every interaction happens at either Crimson, Society or the Athletic Club. The regular work day includes transitioning from one to the other. YR has talented actors but you wouldn’t know it by the material written for them. It’s television malpractice.”
And then there was this comment as well: “The writing has been terrible for a while. This Aristotle Dumas storyline was ridiculous only to end up being Cane (who I never liked before) and now this insane AI attack by Victor which is highly illegal is even more ridiculous.”
So far the producers of The Young and the Restless have not made any comments about the matter just yet.

With new ownership (Skydance), they have good reason to worry about sagging ratings even more than ever. A new company taking over usually means lots of changes, and we’ve already seen some. This was a once great soap (duh!) but past history shows how the mighty have fallen in more ways than one. New people came in to try to “save” Guiding Light and look what happened to that. It was beyond unwatchable in the end months.
Viewership is down, because you desperately need new writers. Bringing back all these all story lines and cruel people are not only stupid their are plenty of new storytelling to be had. We who have watch Y&R since the beginning are not watching much . I tape it and run through the parts that are stupid.
[…] However, Sienna made the right choice when going to see Victor at the mansion. She did that during the point in the plot when Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) was refusing to listen to Noah, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), and her. […]
