What General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison Loves Most About Playing Drew

Cameron Mathison

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal Drew is determined to screw over Ned despite him not being the one who ratted out him and Carly to the SEC, but is this manipulative business side of Drew the one Cameron Mathison likes?

General Hospital Spoilers – A Different Drew Cain

When Drew Cain first returned to the Port Charles canvas a year and a half ago, he was locked in a dungeon prison by Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) and was in action-adventure mode until he managed to escape. For a while, we thought we were going to get action-adventure Drew when he joined forces with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and company to bring Victor down, but he was soon needed as a replacement love interest for Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) since Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was a no-go.

GH switched gears, forced a Carly and Drew pairing, and turned Drew into a corporate raider who was more interested in Aurora and ELQ power than bringing down the man who upended his life for two years. At least he got back on the Victor train for the Greenland Ice Princess story. Drew was the one who managed to get Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) to safety and back to Port Charles to save Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) life, but we have to remember that he did accidentally knock her out cold first and let Victor get away.

General Hospital Updates – Will Drew Change From Greenland?

We thought perhaps Drew would want to remain with his action ways when he returned from Greenland, but he is trying to screw with the Quartermaine clan instead despite them doing nothing at all to hurt him.

However, the action side is what attracted Cameron Mathison to the character of Drew in the first place.

“One of the things that I loved about coming in and playing Drew was that while ex-Navy SEAL kind of bad-ass part of him, and getting involved in multiple storylines. I love the action side of things,” Mathison said in the June 5, 2023, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “It’s really fun for me, I think it’s fun for the fans…I thought Drew’s investment in the whole [Greenland] mission was great on a couple of levels. It was a really fun few weeks and I had a great time doing it.”

Will we see that side of Drew again or is it back to being Carly’s biggest cheerleader and being a disloyal Quartermaine? Stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays to see what Drew Cain does next.

  1. […] When Spence initially inherited the evidence against Esme from his dead Uncle Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy), Trina was against using it. After all, it is likely, not real, and it wouldn’t be right to send anyone away off “fake evidence”; even if that “someone” is Esme. […]
