The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) told Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) what he didn’t want to hear.
Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) doesn’t know it, but she reacted the same way to Michael’s blunt honesty as did the Moustache.
Victor was advised to offer Phyllis a deal in exchange for getting Newman Enterprises back. Michael doesn’t want Victor to endure legal scrutiny for the crimes he’s committed since Phyllis stole Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) artificial intelligence program and gave it to him.
Phyllis was told that she’s in a terrible bind because the email trove he presented to Genoa City, Wisconsin’s, restored District Attorney, Christine Romalotti (Lauralee Bell). While Victor paid to have that information created, and he presented it fraudulently, it somehow passed a forensics test. That momentarily proved how human intelligence has been surpassed by its machine opponent in this instance.
Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) was a con. That part of her life, while compartmentalized and not current, will always inform her thinking.
She suspected that Phyllis was in legal jeopardy because of a scam Victor and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) concocted.
Viewers know that Braeden’s character hired an AI firm to create a new program that’s similar to the one Arabesque developed. He used it to produce fake emails that make Phyllis look guilty.
Victor is using the ends-justifies-the-means theory. He dismissed Chelsea’s concern because he thinks his deception won’t be proven, and Phyllis will fall.
Phyllis has long presented a bold face to the world. But underneath, when she knows trouble is real, Phyllis begins to flail.
She goes on the offensive when cornered against the soapy ropes. That’s exactly why she threatened to smear Christine as being in Victor’s pocket. But that strategy has a more calculated psychological angle.
Stafford’s character knows that she defeated Christine years ago and won Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian). However, her victory was short-lived; he discovered that she lied about him being Daniel Romalotti’s (Michael Graziadei) father. Then, Christine humiliated Phyllis in court by stripping her of parental rights.
So, Phyllis is purely trying to throw Christine off in hopes that it will impact how she pursues this case. It could work, and that’s the best angle Phyllis has to play currently.
Michael is a great lawyer and an even better friend. He doesn’t want to see Victor or Phyllis go down, and both could and his wife, Lauren Fenmore Abbott (Tracey Bregman), could also be caught in the legal and personal crossfire.
He knows that Victor’s emails smell to high heaven, despite them passing a supposed expert examination. Michael also sees that Phyllis is on the road to losing Summers Conglomerate and, more importantly, her freedom.
If anyone can prevent Victor and Phyllis from facing the justice they deserve, it’s Michael. That poor soul could end up facing the brunt of their combined wrath when both mules should be grateful.
