‘The View’ Co-Hosts Accused Of Diva Behavior, Angering ABC

The View is no stranger to controversy for a daytime television program that has endured for almost 20 years. The ABC talk program has continued to be a ratings powerhouse, drawing millions of people every day, despite circulating termination rumors last summer.

The network has invited more conservative voices to the table in an attempt to increase its appeal, and it seems to be succeeding on screen. However, a completely separate narrative is taking place off-screen.

Success on Camera, Strain Behind the Scenes

The familiar rhythm of The View hasn’t changed much over the years. Each episode still opens with the fiery “Hot Topics” segment before transitioning into celebrity interviews. The formula works. But according to insiders, the real drama isn’t always happening in front of the cameras.

Joy Behar, one of the show’s original hosts, has long been a defining presence. Though she briefly exited the show years ago amid a contract dispute, she returned and reestablished herself as a central voice at the table.

Now 83, Behar has also formed a close bond with fellow cohost Sunny Hostin—a friendship that has reportedly raised eyebrows within the network. Their behavior, according to one insider, has begun to test ABC’s patience.

“There are plenty more stories like this. This one just happened to blow up,” a source told The National Enquirer, adding that executives are increasingly frustrated with what’s being described as diva-like conduct.

The source claims that Behar and Hostin have been labeled “entitled,” especially when compared to other prominent ABC personalities such as Kelly Ripa, Robin Roberts, and Tamron Hall, who are said to maintain a more professional reputation behind the scenes.

Political Unity Sparks On-Air Firestorm

While tensions may be simmering off-camera, the sparks on-air remain very real—and very public.

During a recent episode, Behar and Hostin found themselves aligned on a heated geopolitical issue: the U.S. capture of former Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro without congressional approval.

“Maduro is a bad guy. We took him out. So is Kim Jong Un. So is [Vladimir] Putin. We’re going to go into all these countries and just kidnap their leaders?” Behar asked during the debate.

Hostin echoed the concern, emphasizing the legal implications rather than the political outcome:

“That’s the issue here. Yes, we can all agree that Maduro was an illegitimate president who did horrible things in that country and was corrupt. The way he was removed from that country matters. We are supposed to be a nation of laws. The way we did it was against international criminal laws.”

Not everyone at the table agreed.

Alyssa Farah Griffin pushed back, noting that similar actions have been carried out by the United States under previous administrations. What followed was a tense back-and-forth that escalated quickly, with voices overlapping and tempers flaring.

Eventually, moderator Whoopi Goldberg stepped in to regain control of the discussion—only to find herself in a separate disagreement with Sara Haines moments later.

Why Viewers Keep Tuning In

Despite the internal friction and political clashes, The View continues to do what it has always done best: spark conversation. Viewers may not always align with the opinions expressed at the table, but the show’s ability to provoke debate is exactly why it has endured for so long.

After a lengthy holiday hiatus, many fans were simply happy to see the panel return—messy moments, heated arguments, and all.
