John McCook Answers On Instagram
Fans have been wondering just where things are going with this Eric’s retirement story. This is the second time the subject has come up in recent years. Recently, John answered the question on the B&B set and his short answer was “not a chance!”
The question came up on the shows’ official Instagram page while McCook was recording Soapy a podcast hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart.
McCook made his position very clear in the clip. McCook loves his work and as long as that is the case, he is not going anywhere.
McCook says, why walk away when you love what you are doing. Then McCook says that one day they will have to call his wife, Laurette, and say, “Well, he’s dead—come get him.”
John McCook Addresses His B&B History
McCook addressed the demands of Daytime TV, saying soap jobs aren’t harder to get, they are just different.
Soaps demand a lot from their actors as they put out episodes faster than other genre and demand a lot from their actors. “Any actor can do a soap, but not all want to because of the pace. McCook replies, “So don’t do it. I’ll do it.” Touché.
McCook has been with The Bold And The Beautiful as the family patriarch since the show first debuted in March 1987.
Eric has been in a great deal of the shows major storylines and iconic romances. Eric’s storylines in recent years have centered around his son wanting him to retire when he wants to continue to design.
Fans Have Been Worried
McCook fans have been worried about life imitating art as Ridge continues to push Eric to retire. Bold fans are just not ready to part with McCook yet.
Fans were concerned that Eric’s farewell meant McCook’s farewell and that is just unacceptable when they see how badly Eric still wants to work for the company he created.
Of course, McCook’s attitude has done a lot to set fans hearts at ease. Fans are very excited to see it Eric jumps ship and goes to work for Spencer Communications.
