Scarlett Spears Reveals Her GH Audition & Wicked Stories

Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and Scarlett Spears (Donna Corinthos) sat down together on his State of Mind podcast this weekend, and the fictional father and daughter from General Hospital discussed mental health and her career. Read on for more details.

Coping With Ego Issues?

On December 7, as usually happens with Maurice, GH fans heard that he steered the conversation toward mental health. Scarlett opened up about the issues she copes with. Firstly, she sometimes feels rather lonely. And, one of her biggest things that she can’t deal with is being ignored. And Maurice pointed out that he relates to that because he has an “ego thing” going on.

Scarlett Spears also said, “I just don’t like being alone cuz like I’m always with my family and my mom and stuff. So like it scares me when I’m alone and I’m like ignored. Like being in my bedroom alone or something.”

The GH Audition

Next, their conversation turned to how she began on General Hospital. She explained her audition for the role of Donna. She said, “I was waiting for my name to be called. There was this whole little group of kids and we all went into this room sitting down. One by one we went in there.”

Apparently, the process moved quickly for her. She revealed, “This is the craziest part. Right when we left in the car, we got a phone call saying I booked it right when we were about to leave.” Well since then, GH fans have watched her character grow, and the sweet off-set relationship that she and Maurice Benard maintain.

Being On ‘Wicked’

Scarlett Spears has played the role of Donna Corinthos since 2022. But, life isn’t all about the daytime drama. When she talked about her Wicked For Good experience, it seemed to be a happy time for her.

During the podcast, Spears shared stories from her early days on the Wicked set where she acted as young Galinda. She told Maurice, “Well, my first day on set was all about trying on clothes. My second day on set is when I met Ariana [Grande].” Then she added, “She still texts my mom. She texted her today, this morning.”
