General Hospital spoilers spill the courtroom antics during Willow Tait’s (Katelyn MacMullen) trial were full of drama today — so much so that you might’ve missed the look on Nina’s face that made some of us pause and reflect.
Nina hates Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and the day that the truth came out about her sleeping with him — tanking her relationship with her daughter and ruining her wedding and marriage in one fell swoop — might have left Nina shattered and vengeful.
Could it be that Nina has been the guilty party all along who shot Drew and left him for dead — and then watched the police chase after her own daughter for the crime?
When Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) said she wasn’t sure how much Nina’s testimony would help once the jury sees the traffic cam footage, the look on Nina’s face was rather priceless.
Blink and you might’ve missed it, but she seemed to be reflecting on that footage with concern.
Sure, they all know it’s going to make Willow look guilty, because she lied about where she went that night and said she wasn’t anywhere near Drew’s place when she was.
But Nina’s face told a story of fear…perhaps of what — or who — else might show up as the PCPD continues to collect footage from cameras all over that neighborhood.
The photos might have been ruled inadmissible so far, but that doesn’t mean future incoming evidence will be.
To be honest, Nina being the one who shot Drew kind of tracks. Aside from Drew seeking to pin this crime on Michael without any evidence that he did it, Nina has been the only one making broad and sweeping claims that anyone and everyone else could have shot Drew.
While everyone knows Drew has plenty of enemies, it’s Nina who has insisted it will turn out to be Michael who shot him. It was Nina who rolled over on Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) and turned Alexis’ head in the direction of Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr).
Why is Nina so bent on directing the police elsewhere? It could be to protect her daughter, but it also might be self-interest, which is much more in line with who we’ve always known Nina to be.
Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zampronga) laid it out for the court when he said the PCPD were able to poke holes in Willow’s alibi when they obtained footage.
Could Nina have gotten her hands on Edward Quartermaine’s (John Ingle) antique gun? Anything is possible.
But what’s more telling is that Nina jumped at the chance to create a fake alibi for herself when she realized the police might be interested in fingering Willow for the crime.
It also makes sense that if Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) saw Nina on-site — or witnessed her shoot Drew — then he might be waiting with baited breath for Willow to find out who her mother really is.
Nina claimed she did all she could to take the blame for the alibi scheme, and on the stand she said she offered it because she thought Willow would become the target of a witch hunt.
On the flipside, she assumed WIllow might have thought her mother was guilty of shooting Drew. Well, is she? Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
