General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal that Joey and Jay Clay are out as Ace Cassadine, and Kieran and Karis Barry are in! The new set of twins is the same age as Joey and Jay, since the ABC soap decided against aging him, also known as “SORAS” or Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome.
Ace Has Quite The Family Tree
The offspring of Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) and Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) is a Cassadine heir, a renowned Spencer, a Webber, and a Chamberlain.
If you’re curious, I’d argue that’s quite an impressive lineage, depending on how you define impressive. A child with such a remarkable genetic background is certainly not one to overlook; for a time, Ace was in the spotlight alongside his parents, Esme and Spencer.
However, when Baby Ace’s mother reportedly passed away, his main character status faded into the background. That’s when Ace went to live with his grandmother, Laura Collins (Genie Francis). Since then, we haven’t heard much about him.
Joey And Jay Debuted As Ace On February 23, 2023
Twins Jay and Joey Clay made their debut on General Hospital on February 23, 2023-right away, the dual role was embraced by GH fans, and the boys captured the audience’s affection.
Baby Ace Cassadine quickly emerged as a beloved character-let’s just say that Heather Webber (Alley Mills) and Laura Collins weren’t the only grandmothers smitten with the Cassadine heir. Often, child actors are replaced by the powers that be for various reasons.
Typically, children are aged to align with a new storyline that better suits an older character. In the world of soap operas, we refer to this phenomenon as SORAS, which stands for Soap Opera Rapid Age Syndrome.
A Brand New Ace
The December 2nd episode of General Hospital introduced a new baby-actually one of two, as Ace Cassadine. While the beloved soap opted not to give baby Ace a case of SORAS, GH has recast Laura Collins’s grandson. It seems that the forthcoming storyline does not necessitate a sudden growth spurt for Nikolas and Esme’s son.
According to the Instagram account of Jay and Joey Clay the boys have exciting plans ahead-their mom, Lana posted on November 19th, reflecting on the twins’ “journey into the entertainment world.” Her post references Jay and Joey’s past involvement with General Hospital, which sadly informs GH fans of what we need to know, but not what we wish to hear.
Kieran And Karis Barry Are The New Ace
On a brighter note, Lana Clay’s Instagram update indicated that the boys have been quite active. She hinted at a new project for them, encouraging fans to keep an eye out for them in 2026.
As reported by Star Kidz on Instagram, Kieran and Karis Barry have taken over the role-they previously portrayed Scout Derek Shepherd Lincoln on Grey’s Anatomy, so fans may recognize them.
Naturally, many viewers were taken aback since the Clay brothers, Jay and Joey, have been playing Ace since 2023. While we will certainly miss the Clay brothers as Ace, we eagerly anticipate watching them grow and explore new opportunities.
