And while he’s talked about possibly retiring from the daytime television world to pursue other projects that he has going on in his life, that hasn’t happened yet.
That’s because Maurice has made it pretty clear that he wants to become a talk show host and a full-time advocate for better mental health. After all, that’s what he’s been doing for the past five years on his YouTube series, State of Mind.
But here’s the thing: whenever one of Maurice’s General Hospital co-stars has anything to say about their own mental health and past experiences and struggles, the actor seems to make it a part of his story, too.
In fact, that’s exactly what happened when General Hospital actor Chris McKenna opened up about his own bipolar disorder diagnosis in an interview with CNN.

“At the end of the COVID pandemic, I had an acute episode, which led to finally getting the diagnosis for the disorder I have been living with my whole life,” Chris told Elex Michaelson.

Interestingly enough, Maurice was a part of the interview, too. However, here’s the one detail that everyone keeps pointing out: Maurice isn’t a trained psychologist or someone who has studied enough about mental health.
But is that what he wants to do? Or is he just a storyteller when it comes to sharing his own past experiences and giving his co-stars a platform to talk about their own? That’s what a lot of people can’t help but wonder.
Now, whether or not Maurice does end up making the switch, remains to be seen. So far the actor has not made any comments about what his next move will be or whether or not he plans on leaving the daytime television industry for good.
