Tori Spelling, best known for her role as Donna Martin from Beverly Hills 90210, and her daughter, Stella both suffer from a terribly upsetting condition, and recently, she opened up more about it. Read on to find out more.
Stella, the second child born to Tori and her then-husband, Dean McDermott, is now 17 years old. However, since she was a little girl, she struggled with debilitating eczema. According to a recent report by Yahoo, it’s not just a small itchy irritation. In fact, it’s a severe condition that leads to a lot of pain.
Her mom, Tori Spelling, opened up and admitted that she also suffers from the condition. Now that they both found something that helps with the eczema, the two of them participate in the Arcutis Biotherapeutics’ “Free to Be Me” awareness campaign. Notably, the outlet said that finding a treatment turned their lives around.
With severe eczema, it doesn’t just irritate for a day or so and go away. In fact, it can be described as a burning pain. So, there’s huge relief for sufferers because Stella and Tori both use a non-steroidal topical cream called ZORYVE. Apparently, it dramatically cleared up the skin condition and gave them back their confidence.
Sometimes, it was so bad, that they didn’t even want to leave the house. So, by sharing their story, it gives other sufferers hope that they don’t have to suffer in silence. Finding that alternative treatment can change lives.
According to the National Library of Medicine, Tori Spelling and Stella are just two of many people who suffer from the condition. In a paper by Valerie Nemeth; Hasnain A. Syed, and Justin Evans, eczema “is a common chronic skin condition that can lead to recurrent infections and poor quality of life.”
So, it’s vital to get it treated. The worst part is that it itches. But the more one scratches the worse it gets. And that means the possibility of even more “infections.” Also known as “dermatitis,” the condition is most often found in kids, but like Tori, it can also occur in adults.
The health article noted:
There is a strong genetic component to eczema, with a family history of eczema, asthma, or allergies commonly found in affected individuals. Several genes associated with eczema have been identified, including those involved in the skin barrier function and the immune system.
