Y&R is set to welcome back two cherished characters to Genoa City; Tricia Cast and Patty Weaver are officially making their return to the soap just in time for Christine and Danny’s wedding.
A representative from the show confirmed to Soap Opera Digest that both actresses are currently on set filming, with their appearances slated to air in November.
Tricia Cast first appeared as Nina Webster in 1986 and quickly became a fan favorite due to her compelling storylines and heartfelt performances.
She won a Daytime Emmy Award in 1992 and was part of Y&R until 2001, later returning multiple times for special arcs and significant episodes. Most recently, Cast was seen in March 2024 during the show’s anniversary celebrations.

This fall, as Nina steps back into Genoa City, her presence could have added significance. Since last gracing the screen, Nina has borne the burden of grief after the murder of her son, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd).
Viewers will be on the lookout to see if her sadness resurfaces during this visit — and if her journey intersects with Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn), who was associated with Chance’s untimely demise.
Viewers will recall that although Cane didn’t kill Chance, his robotic assistant Carter (Vincent Stalba) did. Nina could easily lash out at Cane if she should encounter him.
Patty Weaver Returns As Danny’s Sister Gina
Weaver became part of The Young and the Restless in 1982, portraying Gina Roma, the sister of Danny and a long-time resident of Genoa City.
She stayed with the show until 2009, making special appearances over the years, such as at Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) funeral in 2013 and during Y&R’s 50th anniversary in 2023.
Fans will recall Gina’s strong connections to Christine and the first wedding of Danny in Hawaii in 1990, where she performed “Starting Here, Starting Now” for the couple.
Her return for their recent wedding beautifully links the past to the present, celebrating a love story that has endured for decades. Nina and Gina’s return highlights the importance of Christine and Danny’s reunion for Y&R. Their roles were crucial during the initial wedding.
