The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Cane’s Choo-Choo Story is a Massive Train Wreck–Make it Make Sense!

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers show that some fans are seriously questioning the return of Citizen Cane “Train” Ashby (Billy Flynn). So many inconsistencies, so many plotholes in this story.
Is it time for a rewrite or at the very least a tweakment of this intensely egotistical character that no one in GC likes, and fans are turning away from in droves?
Let’s unpack the dilemma of bringing back a character who resembles nothing like that which came before.
Who is Cane Now?
First off, this is not a critique of Billy Flynn who left Days of our Lives to come to this level of writing. At least on DOOL viewers expect camp and devil possessions.
Did Y&R learn nothing from Mal Young?
We can get past that Cane lost his Aussie accent sometime during the last six years not to mention his swagger and eye twinkle as portrayed by Daniel Goddard who now is in an excellent example of an intriguing plot over on ABC’s General Hospital.
What we can’t get past is the nonsensical, idiotic really, way that the story has progressed since the recast.
So Unbelievable
Having the GC elite content to be held hostage in a Nice maze for weeks was completely unbelievable. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) would have cartwheeled down the hill to get the heck out of there—ya got that?
Fans watched (or didn’t) as day after day the characters mumbled about being captive with NO ONE trying to leave even after Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) hopscotched up and back down the mountain in a flash.

Now that Cane is back in GC, he’s living out of his wait for it—train car. He has “a train on every continent” engraved on the back of his business card.
Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk have spaceships. How are we not supposed to ROFL at Cane’s vain train claim? A 21st century bogul is bragging about his choo-choo—how more out of touch can the writers get?
When Does the Plot Make Sense
Y&R has a bad habit of presenting promising ideas in the most laughable, bizarrely wrought way. It happened with Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) DID and Mariah Copeland’s “I’m broken” whale of a tale.
Now here we are, supposed to believe that Cane, a man in fear of his life being snatched by an unknown assailant, is living on the train tracks. And entertaining desperado Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) as his saviour, via AI skills she picked up yesterday.
Really Y&R? Make it make sense, jettison this train wreck into outer space.
