The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers document that Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) didn’t get what she wanted. But her failure to remarry Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) can be arguably tied to one mistake she made.
Taylor told her upset son, Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson), not to blame Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang). He disregarded his mother’s advice and did so anyway, implicitly threatening her, which will likely lead to future consequences.
Ridge decided months ago that Brooke’s penchant for self-destruction made Taylor the more stable option. But Budig’s character didn’t live up to his expectations when she asked him a pressured question.
Wanting to get remarried was natural. But Taylor went about it in the wrong way.
It was her cool demeanor and lack of pressure that drew Ridge back to her. Following a reunion in the recent past, when Krista Allen (Taylor) embodied this legacy character, Budig’s edition returned to Los Angeles, California, believing that she was dying.
Her misunderstood, rather than misdiagnosed, heart condition didn’t prove fatal. Instead, her so-called Broken Heart Syndrome led Ridge to a temporary epiphany when he thought Taylor was going to die, but didn’t. Then, many months later, he had another awakening after preventing Brooke from drowning.
Taylor clearly gained the upper hand when she was believed to have a terminal condition. But the since disgraced Dr. Grace Buckingham’s (Cassandra Creech) accurate diagnosis actually put Taylor on a downhill glide path.
Ridge swore himself off Brooke. In reality, he was trying to will himself away from the woman he truly loves more than Taylor.
While Ridge is sincere when saying that he values the family he and Taylor created many decades ago, he wasn’t honest with himself when it came to remarrying her.
Taylor sensed a need to secure Ridge’s commitment and asked him to remarry her. He was surprised by the request, didn’t have time to seek other people’s counsel, which he often does, and agreed to do so. That was Taylor’s one mistake, and it cost her.
In an alternative scenario, a different outcome could have resulted.
If Taylor hadn’t reacted insecurely, Ridge wouldn’t have been forced to choose her instead of Brooke.
The entire event in Italy likely wouldn’t have played out as it did because Nick Marone (Jack Wagner) likely wouldn’t have felt the need to make a grand gesture toward Brooke, which included his ill-fated use of a boat with faulty steering.
Ridge may never have gone to Forrester Creations’ event in Italy, or if he did, Eric Forrester (John McCook) wouldn’t have been hounding him to follow Brooke’s trail.
Yet, that sequence of events was set in motion because Taylor pushed the engagement, Nick sniffed opportunity, and Brooke enabled his interest. Ridge followed suit all the way through to remarrying Brooke, not Taylor.
