Beyond The Gates – RhonniRose Mantilla & Brianna Roberts Reveal Surprising Audition Twists

Beyond The Gates stars RhonniRose Mantilla (Chelsea Hamilton) and Brianna Roberts (Allison Bailey) from the CBS drama recently opened up about their auditions. And. they brought some surprising tea about it. Read on to find out more details.

Delivering Some Tea

The soap opera stars revealed their surprising news when they appeared with Tony Moore on the Loungin’ With Tony podcast on YouTube this weekend. Tony introduced the duo from BTG by saying that they would be “delivering the tea.”

Next he added, “The storyline happened with Chelsea and Alison, [and] the first thing I said was, ‘Okay, we getting soapy now.’ And we are in it. And so, just kudos to to you all for doing such such such an amazing job with this storyline.” However, the chatter soon turned to their auditions for Beyond The Gates.

The Auditions

Early in the conversation, Brianna revealed that she didn’t originally audition for the role of Alison Bailey. Instead, she pointed out that she tried out for the role of Chelsea. Of course, CBS fans know that RonnieRose landed the part. 

Anyway, Brianna only later tried for the role of Alison. Notably, it wasn’t an ideal situation. She explained to Tony Moore:

I was back home in Greensboro. I didn’t have any of my equipment. I was like, “Okay, let’s just do it. Let’s see what happens.” Didn’t really think about it that much. When I got the call, I was very shocked, very, very happy.

Mantilla’s Audition

Asked if she knew about Brianna Roberts auditioning for the role of Chelsea, RonnieRose responded by saying that she hadn’t known. She said, “We didn’t talk about that. And I feel so bad because we barely [talked],” adding, “it was such a hectic time. Because we had to get this out.”

Explaining further, RonnieRose said, “We had to film it really quickly. She had so many lines and and emotions and I did too. And so we were just kind of focused on the work. But, this is like the first time that we get to like hang out.”

In a surprising twist, RonnieRose Mantilla also auditioned for a part she didn’t get. Originally, she hoped for the role of Alison. Explaining, she talked about how she auditioned for Beyond the Gates in between “the Idaho Shakespeare Festival and…Cleveland at Playhouse Square” when she played the role of “Cinderella” in Into the Woods.

RonnieRose added, “I auditioned for the role of Kat, whose original name was Alison. I sent my tape in and the next day they were like, ‘No, we want you to read for Chelsea, whose name was Cheryl back then.'”
