The sitcom, Ugly Betty, was removed from Netflix on August 1, 2025, marking the end of its two-year run on the platform. And now, the streaming platform has plans to axe a lot more shows and movies. Read on to find out which ones are going and why this is happening.
By the end of the month, several shows will disappear from the platform permanently. According to The Sun US, they include Gangs of London. It’s a crime series that will have both seasons 1 and 2 removed. Kicking things off, Ballers (The Rock) was already taken down as of yesterday, with all five seasons removed.
August 16, marks the last day to stream Baby Mama and the popular horror film Ouija: Origin of Evil. This weekend will be your final chance to watch Into the Badlands and the Bachelor reality TV drama UnReal.
Fans of The Walking Dead will be disappointed. By August 21, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will no longer be available. There’s more bad news for families: Kung Fu Panda 4 is also leaving soon.
By next weekend, Boss Baby will exit the platform as well. The animated series ran for four seasons and was praised for blending humor with good storytelling, along with sharp wit and surprising depth.
Melancholia will be gone by the end of August as well. The film made its world debut in 2011, as an official selection of the 64th Cannes Film Festival. Kirsten Dunst earned the festival’s prestigious Best Actress honor for her portrayal in the psychological drama.
It was an intriguing dystopian movie to watch as sisters Justine and Claire grappled with their personal demons while facing the impending collision of a mysterious planet.
On the last day of the month, The Hitman’s Bodyguard series will also be removed, along with its sequel The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. According to reports, a total of nine movies and six TV shows will be cut from the platform within the next two weeks.
The shows being removed are likely tied to expiring licensing agreements. Additionally, the streaming platform regularly refreshes its content library by adding new titles, which means even popular shows with dedicated fan bases sometimes get dropped to make room for fresh content.
Netflix’s upcoming lineup features several exciting additions that should delight binge-watchers. The platform will introduce a new Korean romantic drama called You and Everything Else, along with a gripping crime series named Queen Mantis. Fans of action cinema can look forward to Mantis, the highly anticipated follow-up to Kill Boksoon.
Animation enthusiasts have something special coming too. Haunted Hotel, a mature animated comedy from the creative minds responsible for Rick and Morty, premieres September 19, 2025 with its first ten-episode season.
