General Hospital’s Rena Sofer Gets Emotional About Starting New Chapter
General Hospital (GH) spoilers suggest Rena Sofer, who plays the feisty Lois Cerrullo on the ABC soap, recently embarked on a new chapter. All the details about this, including how emotional she got, are below!
Rena Sofer Updates Fans On Instagram
Sofer hopped on IG and posted a video about her and her partner, Sanford Boostaver, moving on Monday, August 4.
In the video, the two say goodbye to Hollywood as they are heading to New York. Sofer started singing Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” in the Instagram video, as the two talked about leaving
Hollywood for New York.
In her social media post, Sofer writes, “We’ve been in L.A. for almost 35 years and now it’s time for me and Sanford to go. No one better than Billy Joel to create the perfect soundtrack to our dreams!”
She adds, “Yes, I’m getting emotional. I met and had my children in L.A., met the man of my dreams and created an incredible life there. I had amazing success in the biz and made all my lifelong friends who I will miss desperately… And now on to quieter and calmer times.”
Sofer wraps things up with, “Now we are off in our Rivian with our five dogs in the back to our new life!”
Rena Sofer’s Status With GH
But does this mean no Lois on GH? The actress returned for what was supposed to be a short run back in 2023, but was then changed to recurring status.
Sofer had a solid storyline develop as Lois was the secret keeper of Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri’s (Giovanni Mazza) adoption.
The truth recently came out at the 2025 Nurses Ball, and Lois has been sporadically seen since. In fact, pretty much everyone, but Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), is mad at Lois, which is why she is currently back in Bensonhurst and not in Port Charles.
From her ex, Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth), to bestie Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero), as well as her daughter Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), and Gio, she’s turned friends and family into enemies.
Still, this doesn’t mean Lois won’t return to the canvas ‘someday’, it may just mean that she won’t be coming back anytime soon.
